This year's Borneo Tour

21st October to 28th October 2018

proved to be another huge success.

This year we were lucky to be joined by a great team of eleven happy fundraisers for another of our unique eco- trips.

Centred on Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan we also visited East Kalimantan during the course of the eight day trip.

Meeting up in Jakarta we travelled to Palangkaraya to travel by motorised canoe into the Sabangau National Park for a day's trek into the jungle to search for wild orangutan. Day two saw the group board a traditional local river boat which would be our stunning base for the next two days; meandering up the river through the jungle we viewed orangutan on the islands and received a unique and emotional traditional welcome at a Dayak village before being invited for coffee at the house of the head elder of the village. Moored in the river guests dined up on deck that evening to a delicious meal prepared by the crew's star cook and awoke to the sounds of the jungle in the tranquil morning.

A visit to Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rescue Centre followed where we met the vet team, viewed the orangutan returning from forest school and handed over a complete new digital x-ray system for the centre together with manyother much needed items.

Travelling on to East Kalimanatan we travelled up a 'black river, viewing proboscis momkeys and other wildlife and then had a two night stay in the beautiful environment of Samboja Lodge again viewing orangutan and delivering more donations of digital x-ray machine and ultrasound machine to the hugely grateful vet team. The group were treated to a tour of the facilities and orangutan islands and a visit to the sun bear sanctuary

The tour ended in Balikpapan East Kalimantan with every guest enthusing about their experience and revelling in the multiple sensory experiences crammed into too few days!

We have included images taken on the trip below together with some testimonials (all positive and unsolicited, we are happy to say!)
